By ChannelWorld Bureau Thu, Oct 29, 2009

Check Point Software Technologies launched Endpoint Security R72, an upgrade to the previously launched R71. The vendor claimed the new version comes with features such as WebCheck, VPN Auto- Connect and a single sign on and is compatible with all operating systems, including Windows 7.

The company said the WebCheck browser security protects PC’s against web-based threats, while OneCheck single authentication unlocks endpoint security subsystems. “WebCheck prevents data loss at the browser level and protects enterprises from security breaches, while streamlining infrastructure and protecting organizations from costs in case of a breach,” said Bhaskar Bakthavatsalu, Regional Director- India & SAARC, Check Point.

Check Point claimed R72 is a single agent for end-customers for technologies such as VPN, firewall and full disk encryption among others.

Talking about their go-to-market strategy, Bakthavatsalu said, “Check Point is an entirely channel-oriented company. We have partnered with Texonic instruments to tap into their Tier III and IV city partners. However, as of now we offer only email and telephonic support to our partners.” Check Point will be announcing its channel expansion plans in January.

According to the vendor, 20 percent of their customers use R71 and are expected to upgrade. R72 is available immediately and can be purchased through their partners.
