Grid Power Conversion
By Sneha Kupekar Wed, Jan 27, 2010Evolving from a partnership firm that traded in power products, Grid Power Conversion turned into a private limited company that provided power solutions in 2002. “The transition to a power solutions provider was the need of the hour,” says Jaya Shetty, Director, Grid Power Conversion, attributing the shift partly to Grid’s association with Powerware vendor, Eaton.
“We have always ensured that we provide our clients with the best and timely services. Our team has never let down a commitment and there has been only one instance of a delay in the last 7 years, where we have had to airlift material for Manipal Press,” Shetty maintains.
Talking about one of Grid’s successful deployments, Shetty says, “We bagged a turnkey order from Volvo Peenya, which was to be completed in six months. The challenge was to dismantle 16 UPS of various capacities and replace them with three Powerware units of 80 KVA redundancy. The task involved load management in 15 locations within the factory premises.”
Grid has managed to retain clients not only due to the quality of the products it sells but also due to its excellent post-sales support. Shetty adds, “The first level of support is provided by our team of five service engineers, of which two are certified. We ensure that our employees remain motivated by offering them incentives that honor their achievements. Thus, employee attrition has never been a threat.”
As part of its expansion plans, Grid would soon be opening branches in Mumbai and Delhi and will also try to gain a stronger foothold in the government sector. “We plan to start with a skeletal structure in the metros, with just a sales team for now. We are always on the lookout for the latest in environmental products and technologies from our principals and would like to deliver to markets where power is scarce and unreliable,” signs off Shetty.
