Solix Technologies Unveils Technology Roadmap

Added on Jul 28, 2010 by Kartik Sharma

Solix Technologies is geared to extend its market share in Indian enterprise market. A provider of EDM (enterprise data management) and ILM solutions, Solix is confident of its new technology roadmap. “The huge data growth will help build more enterprise customers in a strategic country like India .Our focus is on Solix EDMS application retirement appliance,” said Raghu Kodali, Vice President, Product Marketing, Solix Technologies.  An industry first, this appliance retires legacy applications to save money, time and IT resources. “CIOs want to save money but they can not turn off application as valid data is needed for discovery purposes, compliance reasons and so forth,” he added.

The company has a two point plan to take this appliance to the market. “First, get the initial early adopters on this appliance and secondly align with right partners to take product to mass consumers of enterprise, he says. From last 24 months, there has been a shift in the market landscape, which prompted Solix to launch this product as per him. He reasoned, “The economic downturn of 2009 lead to significant IT budget constraint for large enterprises. There were many applications not used for any business processes, but company was still paying lot of money in software maintenance, licensing, hardware, people cost.”

Solix Enterprises Data Management Suite is company’s flagship product consisting of ILM solutions (database archiving and application retirement) and application testing (test data management and data masking). Solix Application Retirement solution is a metadata based tool that allows companies to map metadata between applications and create conversion rules for faster and seamless data migration. “Consolidation in IT structure happens because there is a lot of redundancy. There are cases where you don’t need the application but you need the data. ”With this device, the enterprises can essentially retire the existing application,” he explained.

Speaking about the channel strategy, we are looking to partner with some large System Integrators and Independent Software Vendors who can take our product to the end costumers, he said. These partner communities or large consulting companies have existing foot prints across major verticals which Solix would leverage for their product push. The key verticals would be telecom and Government for this appliance. “Telecom companies have problems with huge storage as they do not want to keep it online anymore. This type of archiving appliance comes into play.  Government departments receive lot of online application forms. Even UID concept is huge,” he reasoned.

Solix Technologies is bullish about the current year of 2010 as IT organizations will open their wallets as per Kodali. He adds, CIOs have more of a mandate to keep an eagles eye on cost. As per industry reports, the application modification has come out as crucial issue for enterprises. “This means we will have big play. We are doing the right thing with the product point of view, and we believe that we are ready for the right time,” summed Kodali.
