By ChannelWorld Bureau Wed, Apr 08, 2009

Sybase announced the release of its enterprise mobility offerings in the Indian market. The company also announced a new version of iAnywhere Mobile Office with expanded iPhone support and availability on the iPhone App Store.

This new release will reportedly strengthen the company’s existing enterprise mobility portfolio in field force automation, email and application mobilization. Enterprise mobility is expected to find dramatic levels of adoption in 2009, following companies focusing on it significantly in 2008 as a tool to optimize operational cost and efficiency in the context of the economic downturn.

SAP and Sybase have partnered globally to extend access to secure, full-featured, business applications to address the growing need in the market, where workers are seeking the same access to information and enterprise applications even when they are not in the office,. The two companies are co-innovating and collaborating to deliver the new SAP Business Suite software for the first time to iPhone, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and other devices by integrating it with Sybase’s industry-leading mobile enterprise application platform.

Sunil Jose, Managing Director, Sybase India & sub-continent said, “There is an increasing demand from customers and partners in India for a complete, tightly integrated platform that provides true enterprise value by mobilizing business processes and applications. More than ever, Indian businesses are in pursuit of better insights into their own business as well as the market to garner competitive advantage. Our offerings are designed to help them unleash the power of information from the data center right to the mobile edge anywhere, at any time.”

Mobile office applications are showing strong growth, further highlighting the resolve for enhancing productivity by organisations. According to Gartner, “by 2010, 50percent of enterprises will have migrated away from tactical mobile application silos (supporting a single application) to strategic platforms capable of supporting multiple applications, managing devices and securing data and transport”.
Sybase’s latest version is intended to strengthen iPhone adoption within enterprises by providing Lotus Domino and Microsoft Exchange email and PIM data to iPhone users.
