  • On July 28, Oracle announced that it will acquire NetSuite, believed to be the ‘very first cloud company’ for about $9.3 billion at $109 per share in cash. 

  • Expanding its cloud-based services beyond CRM, Salesforce acquired Quip, a cloud-based collaborative productivity software suite, for $750 million on August 1.

  • Before Quip, Salesforce spent more than $2.8 billion in June 2016 acquiring Demandware, which provides cloud-based ecommerce services.

  • In February 2016, Oracle decided to buy Ravello, which specializes in simplifying the movement of workload between environments, for about $500 million.

  • Cisco announced in February 2016 that it was acquiring the IoT-based cloud platform maker Jasper for $1.4 billion.
