Mission-critical reliability required
When one of India’s largest petrochemical refineries hit its existing IT infrastructure’s performance limitations, it went to open tender and selected Lenovo Platinum Partner Binary Systems to supply a full infrastructure refresh.
Binary Systems, one of India’s longest running technology specialists, in continuous operation since 1986, specialises in hyperconverged infrastructure.
It designed a comprehensive solution revolving around an ecosystem of solutions from Lenovo Data Centre Group. “The existing infrastructure needed to be upscaled because the business was growing, but importantly, needed to be much more manageable,” said Mr Edward Jeevan, Director.
“Our solution revolved around Lenovo hardware and had significant elements of open source software, which brought down the cost without sacrificing security, performance or manageability. We appreciated Lenovo’s contribution to our business’ journey over many years. It is known for reliability. Customers have very strong trust in the IBM/Lenovo family of products; it is one of the things other brands can’t easily match,” he remarked.
 Intense need for speed
SAP HANA and high performance computing specialist United Computers was recognised for its solution developed for an international ship classification society in West India which provides survey, inspection and certification services to the maritime and industrial sectors. The solution
United Computers worked with the Society in September 2017 to address a need for a scalable system with extreme parallel processing performance. The solution was designed around Lenovo System x3550 M5 Servers which could deliver the intense parallel computational performance required, matched with an Infiniband switch for high performance Ethernet fabric management.
Lenovo was the natural choice for this solution design, said Mr Madhusudhan
of United Computers. “Lenovo is a trusted and proven product for high performance computing and we added post sales installation, application deployment and knowledge transfer as part of the deal, which which completed the solution for the client.”
 Drastic latency improvement
Mumbai-based hyperconverged infrastructure specialist Unified Data-Tech Solutions was recognised for developing an excellent hyper-converged infrastructure solution design for a leading Indian financial institution.
“We advised our customer who wished to refresh existing infrastructure that a Lenovo hyperconverged infrastructure solution would remove latency and simplify management and security,” commented UDTech Director, Hiren Mehta.
“Bringing latency down for this customer gave drastically better response times to their business. Ultimately, our value proposition and total cost of ownership provided a clear choice for the client.”
 Flexibility is key
Magnamious Director, Jiten Mehta, speaks with pride about this solution his company designed for one of India’s most valuable private enterprises with interests in construction, real estate, textiles and numerous other areas.
The solution, valued at over $US300,000 delivered a high-performance SAP Hana in-memory database and analytics platform, architected around Lenovo System x3950 and x3850 servers in a Flex System Chassis with 10 blades. It also included IBM System Storage DS5000 provided through Lenovo.
“Lenovo is the largest SAP Hana provider in India – this breadth of experience really is a key advantage,” says Mr Mehta. “Working with Lenovo is also very easy; their flexibility is unmatched. Some companies are very rigid with systems and processes, but the kind of bonding we have with them gives the advantage,” he added.
“As an added advantage, we believe our solution, designed around Lenovo hardware, provided equivalent performance at a 15-20% lower cost than competing suppliers.”
 A close relationship
When one of India’s leading automobile makers was looking to consolidate servers and virtualize applications for stronger disaster recovery and business continuity, it didn’t waver from its choice of IT provider – RK Infotech.
RK Infotech’s Arul Prasad has provided “each and every IT solution to this customer from the beginning, including from datacenter infrastructure, security, backup… everything!”
“Since we have long term relationship with customer we have wide knowledge of existing infrastructure which helped us to provide a solution meeting customer’s exact requirement,” he says.
