Nutanix India will have its new country leader in June this year.
Anantharaman Balakrishnan will take charge as India Chief at Nutanix.
A provider of cloud software and hyperconverged infrastructure solutions, Nutanix has full-fledged operations in India from 2016.
Previously, Balakrishnan was the head of enterprise business development at Amazon Internet Services (India).
“We confirm that Anantharaman Balakrishnan has resigned from Amazon Internet Service,” said an official statement from Amazon Internet Services to IDG India.
It’s been over seven months that the top executive post was vacant at Nutanix India, since Sunil Mahale left the company in October 2018.
Mahale joined Nutanix as vice president and managing director in December 2015.

When asked to confirm Balakrishnan’s appointment as India MD for Nutanix, an official statement by Nutanix stated, “At this time we are actively pursuing candidates for the role of India country manager. While talks are ongoing it would be inappropriate for us to comment further. Once we are in a position to confirm the appointment, we will provide a public statement.”
Balakrishnan is reported to join Nutanix as India MD in the second or third week of June, 2019, as per industry reports.
“Anantharaman Balakrishnan is reported to join Nutanix as India Managing Director in the second or third week of June of 2019. He will be replacing Sunil Mahale who left the company in October 2018.”
His longest stint has been with EMC (now Dell Technologies) for a period of eight years from 2008 to 2016, in different senior roles including country head for EMC Global Services and also vice president for sales at the storage giant (heritage EMC).
After EMC, he joined as enterprise evangelist at Amazon Internet Services in Jun 2016. In his last role he was the head of Enterprise Business Development, wherein he was managing the Enterprise Business Development function for AISPL India.
The official statement from Nutanix reemphasised that, ‘Until we make a formal announcement on an appointment of India country manager, our response remains the same.’
Balakrishnan has a rich experience of over twenty eight years in the ICT industry as he had held senior management roles at leading tech MNCs including EMC (now Dell Technologies), IBM, Sun Microsystems.
Balakrishnan started his career with Pertech Computers in 1991. He later joined IBM Global Services as business manager/ technical manager from 1997 to 2001.
An engineering degree holder in electronics and communication from Nagpur University, Balakrishnan has a masters in marketing management from NMIMS, Mumbai.
