Sundar N Balasubramanian is the new India Chief at Check Point Software Technologies.
Check Point Software Technologies confirmed the appointment of Sundar N Balasubramanian as the new Managing Director for India and SAARC region in an exclusive statement to IDG India.
Balasubramanian has replaced Bhaskar Bakthavatsalu in the role, according to the company’s official statement.
Bhaskar Bakthavatsalu, who was the Managing Director for India and SAARC for over fifteen years at Check Point has been promoted to a global role at the cybersecurity company.
The change of roles of both the executives are effective immediately, mentioned the statement.
Balasubramanian, as Managing Director for India and SAARC, will be responsible for Check Point’s continued growth in the region. He will report to Sharat Sinha, Vice President (VP) / General Manager (GM), Asia-Pacific & Japan.
Balasubramanian was reported to take over as India country manager role at Check Point in place of Harsh Marwah who quit the company last month and Bakthavatsalu would continue as India MD.
The exit of Balasubramanian from VMware and the appointment at Check Point was reported by ChannelWorld exclusively last month.
However, in the latest announcement by the company, Balasubramanian has replaced Bakthavatsalu as India MD at Check Point.
Check Point Software Technologies confirmed to IDG India that Sundar N Balasubramanian has been named Managing Director for India and SAARC Region as Bhaskar Bakthavatsalu moves to global role.
In his earlier role before joining Check Point, Balasubramanian was the senior director – channels and commercial sales at VMware India for close to five years.
Balasubramanian has over 25 years of experience in information technology and has held key positions with companies such as IBM, Microsoft, and EMC/VMware.

Balasubramanian has an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta and a Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
