VMware channel chief Sundar Balasubramanian exits

At VMware, Balasubramanian led the partner and alliances team managing distributors, resellers, SIs, OEMs, ISVs, technology alliance partners and CSPs.

Sundar Balasubramanian has put in his papers at VMware India. 

Balasubramanian was the channel chief for VMware India. He joined VMware in January of 2015. 

In this role, he led the partner and alliances team managing distributors, resellers, SIs, OEMs, ISVs, Technology Alliance Partners and cloud service providers.

When enquired on Balasubramanian’s exit, the VMware statement neither confirmed nor denied the report. 

“VMware India has a strong bench of leaders helping both enterprise and commercial customers in their transformation journey. We do not share individual employee contractual details for confidentiality reasons,” said the official statement of VMware.

As senior director, commercial sales and partners at VMware India, he was also responsible for commercial business sales team across four regions and key verticals in India. 

Having worked with industry leaders such as EMC, IBM and Microsoft before joining VMware in 2015, Balasubramnian has almost three decades of diverse sales, business and partner leadership experience in the IT industry.

Since last week, VMware India has announced couple of significant changes in their top executive management. Earlier this week, the company announced the appointment of Pradeep Nair, former MD at Autodesk India, as the new India Chief at VMware.

Nair replaced Arun Parameswaran, who was in-charge of the India business for the past 5 years. Parameswaran will now lead VMware’s enterprise business as vice president, enterprise business, for APJ.

And now Sundar Balasubramanian is leaving VMware. 

Balasubramanian was Business Unit Executive - Sales, Channels, SI & ISV - Systems & Technology Group (India & South Asia) for IBM from 2012 to 2015 before he joined VMware. 

Balasubramnian has been deeply involved in new business creation, sales, emerging markets product development, classic product management, partnerships, channel management, and service delivery models.

In his five year stint with EMC he held roles of senior director, Customer Support Services, Global Servicer and also director and general manager, Strategy & Business Productivity. In earlier role, he had his career’s longest stint of eight plus years with Microsoft in different strategic roles from 1999 to 2007.

Balasubramanian commenced his career with IBM as product manager in 1993. 

An MBA (Finance and marketing) graduate from IIM Kolkata, Balasubramanian is a degree holder in bachelor of technology from IIT Mumbai.
